These bylaws were written, reviewed and approved by the Membership Committee of Kenaz Kindred. They were created to provide a written document of how we would operate our organization and what our views on certain issues would be.It also outlines our policies and proccedures as well as where funds are directed and how they are used. We felt it was essential to create bylaws in order to have an established document that would express how issues would be dealt with. As groups grow, bylaws become essential to ensure that a democratic environment is maintained.
We feel our kindred is democratic, each member has voting rights and we decide things as a group, no one is held to a different set of standards regardless of the length of time they have been here or the role they play. We feel that bylaws made sense, especially in an Asatru organization, in the ancient world those in the Norse tradition had very strict laws that were always discussed and decided by a democratic process. In fact, many of the views and laws we have today stem from the tradition of the Allthing.
A copy of the bylaws are provided to all membership applicants. There is also a printed copy of the bylaw document along with all forms at the official Kenaz Kindred office for anyone to view at any time.
